A medical research centre will be built in Yangon by early 2013, according to the Department of Medical Research (Lower Myanmar).

It is aimed to research infectious diseases and enhance diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB), malaria and viral hepatic diseases in Myanmar.

Centre will also serve for collaboration in medical research between Myanmar and Korea, and organizing technical trainings.

It will be built in the compound of the Department of Medical Research (Lower Myanmar) and the building will have 3 labs of Bio-Safety Level 2 (BSL2) and a conference room with IT systems.

Construction of the centre will be carried out by DOSUNG Architects Associates Company.

Actually, this project has been agreed between Ministry of Health, Department of Medical Research (Lower Myanmar) and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) since August 2011.
