Suu Kyi concerned over Myanmar' reform process

Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi expressed her concern yesterday over the lack of clear structure in Myanmar's reform process.
"Now, there are many problems arising all over the country. I don't mean that I am satisfied with the current government's reform process," Suu Kyi told the Asean 100 Leadership 2012 Forum held at the Sedona Hotel in Yangon.
In her speech "Resilience for the Turbulent Time'', Suu Kyi urged Myanmar to adopt the federal political system.
In her reply to a question made by a participant of the forum, Suu Kyi said she believed in federal system. She added that it was the right principle for the constitution.
The system, she said, would unite the people across the nation.
She also pointed out that the speed was not the essence of a political reform, saying that the country needed a trustworthy change instead.
National reconciliation between the ethnic groups and armed groups is what she really desired for the nation. She added that she believed in democratic rights and that Burmese people should apply these rights properly.
The forum discussed business, politics and civil society issues in Southeast Asia.
"Forum intends to build mutual understanding within Asean," said Timothy Ong, founder of Asia Inc Forum.
The forum was the ninth forum organised by Asia Inc Forum.
