US to aid Myanmar with livestock and fishery tech

The United States will provide Myanmar with 'Livestock and Fishery Transfer Programme', the first assistance to the southeast Asia country after the visit of President Barack Obama in November, said Win Kyaing, General Secretary of Myanmar Fishery Federation.

Winrock International's US Programs will conduct training course with the funds of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The global nonprofit organisation will launch  'farmer to famer development' programme to make connection among the farmers to support their livelihoods in fishery and livestock sectors.

Technology transfer programme will include livestock, breeding, processing, producing finished products and marketing  knowledge.

A report must be submitted to the Winrock International on the needs and difficulties for the programme, and the NGO will allow one of the proposals which will be appropriate for Myanmar.

Winrock International is a nonprofit organization that works with people in the United States and around the world to empower the disadvantaged, increase economic opportunity, and sustain natural resources.

By linking local individuals and communities with new ideas and technology, Winrock is increasing long-term productivity, equity, and responsible resource management to benefit the poor and disadvantaged of the world.

Winrock International was created in 1985 with the merger of three institutions: the International Agricultural Development Service, the Winrock International Livestock Research and Training Center, and the Agricultural Development Council (A/D/C).
