Pathein opens its water festival on grand scale









A ceremony to open a water festival on a grand scale in Pathein, Ayeyawady Division on April 13.


It was attended by Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister Thein Aung, Region Parliament Chairman Tin Soe, ministers, heads of department, vocalists, dance troupes, models and the people.


Thingyan has been that in childhood. We feel insesure because of widespread of humors. We want the water festival to spend with peace of mind, Pathein local Han Nyunt said.


The Pathein waster festival has been living with over 20 pandals, five dance groups, departmental groups and students.


Thingyan is a tradition. We should not create the bad image of water festival. We should preserve Myanmar attires, teacher Than win of National Democracy Network said.


Security forces have been deployed in Pathein during Thingyan days tpo avoid untoward accidents.
