Strong winds destroys 94 houses in Nay Pyi Taw

Strong winds destroyed 94 houses, as well as schools and monasteries, from two villages in Lewe Township of the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area on April 22.


Three were injured. No other casualties were reported.


Another 74 houses including a school and one monastery at Kyunegyan village in Lewe Township were damaged due to the winds.


"In Laykathein village, 19 houses and one school were also destroyed and two villages encountered strong winds destroying a total of 94 houses," an administrator from Kyunegyan village said.


"There are many damaged houses and three were injured. In following day, officials from Nay Pyi Taw Council Area and the Union Solidarity and Development Party visited strong winds-affected places. Although they told us that they will provide 50-viss of edible oil and one basket of rice to the victims after taking the photos of damaged houses, no help came from the authorities yet," Chan Ni from Kyunegyan village said.
