Belief is a key factor in safeguard of religion, said Lower House MP Aung San Suu Kyi in her meeting with reporters during the short break at the parliament on June 25.

In response to the reporter's question about "whether it is considered a law is now needed to be issued to safeguard Buddhism because of being under pressure," Suu Kyi said that belief was crucial in safeguarding the religion, adding that not anything nor anyone can spoil a particular religion if devotees are strong faith in it.

Suu Kyi also responded to the front page TIME article that highlighted the accusation against Buddhist monk U Wirathu as terror in its July issue in an interview with the reporters, saying that public cooperatin is vital not to misunderstand an act of terrorism related to the religion.

If whatever religion is thought to be linked to terrorism, it is a negative sign. Basically, religion pushes the people into producing affection, sympathy and rejoicing. If any religion is seen terrorism, it won't be a good sign. Hence, all need to try to get rid off such misunderstanding out of our mind, added Suu Kyi.

Communal violence broke out one place to another in the country as there is no rule of law and authorities have no transparency in addressing the issues. Religion includes in social affairs. Those doing the politics should take religious affairs into consideration, said Suu Kyi.

U Wirathu presiding Masoeyein monastery is now planning a legislation on religion protection including the point that only Buddhist man must marry a Buddhist woman in order to submit it to the parliament.
