The Government has yet to effectively carry out rural development and poverty alleviation programs, said President Thein Sein during a meeting on Project Commission held in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday.

Rural development and poverty alleviation are the government's most important tasks. But up to this day, these tasks are far from success. The most necessary thing for the poor is financial capital. If the capital loans can systematically disbursed and creating of jobs will lead to a significant drop in poverty alleviation, said Thein Sein.

Moreover, Myanmar people who want to witness speedy development couldn't accept fundamental changes and criticized the government for not making progress by pointing to the people at the lowest social level.

Therefore, the Government has to redouble efforts in implementing the reform processes paying special attention to the people's desire, he added.

In the remaining 31 months of his presidency, everyone has to take full responsibility for ensuring enough electricity and water supplies, food security, good transportation, more jobs, sound education and health conditions for every citizen.

The Vice –Presidents also attended the first day session of the two-day meeting.
