Following a trip to northern Shan State's Kyaukme, this Tuesday morning, the RCSS delegation led by Lt-Gen Yawdserk met with Shan civil society organizations in Mandalay, according to news sources.
"Today we met Shan Civil Society Organizations in Mandalay. Our delegation was welcome by a group of 300 people," Maj. Lao Hseng said.
"It was very exciting," Lt-Gen Yawdserk, the chairman of the RCSS told the crowds who gathered to welcome its delegation.
"To the crowds, the chairman also spoke about our trips, the current political situation in the country, the ongoing discussion with the government in which problem is needed to be solved, and the promise to join hands with the people of Shan State for the peace process," Maj. Lao Hseng told SHAN, Lt-Gen Yawdserk's speaking has been quoted as saying.
This morning at Mandalay Shan Cultural Society building, where the RCSS delegation met with the people, the topics of discussions include: the objectives of peace building, federal union state building and 2008 Constitution amendment, said Maj. Lao Hseng.
Yesterday (Monday) following the meeting with the people in Kyaukme, northern Shan State, the delegation has promptly arrived in Mandalay overnight. "As representatives of northern Shan cities including Hsipaw, Lashio, Hsenwi and Namkham in which over 1,000 people had come to meet us in Kyaukme, so we decided not to tour all those cities, but we will visit Taunggyi, the capital of Shan State instead," Maj. Lao Hseng told SHAN.
"At Taunggyi, we will meet officials of the Shan State Government, regional commanders of Burma Army from Infantry Battalion (LB) and Light Infantry Battalion (LIB). Additionally, we have also scheduled to meet political parties, Buddhist Sangha Organization and general public," according to delegation's spokesperson.
RCSS/SSA delegation, trust-building for peace tour in Burma will officially conclude on 25 June, according to reports.
