DAWEI CORPORATION SETS TO LAUNCH NEW AIRLINE IN NOVEMBER

A public corporation formed by entrepreneurs in the southern Myanmar town Dawei where the proposed Special Economic Zone project lays has set to launch a new airline in coming October, the local news agency Dawei Watch reported.

The scheduled launch of the Apex Airline was confirmed by managing director of the corporation Ye Htut Naing.

The airline will run both domestic and international flights, said a director of the company.

The company has got the nod from civil aviation department to start operating the airline and ordered planes, chairman of the company Khin Soe said.

"Despite scheduled launch in October, there would be some months delay due to rules and regulations of airline operation," said in the first meeting of shareholders.

At the one-hour meeting in Dawei on 23 June, the company briefed on its future programmes.

It is scheduled to start construction of a shopping centre in the town in Taninthayi Region in the southern part of the country and open a human resources development training school in October.

The public corporation was corporated in the previous year, inviting regional shareholders.
