Four die in car accident on Myanmar highway









Four people were killed on Sunday in a car accident on the Yangon-Mandalay Highway in central Myanmar, according to witnesses.


Their car collided with a highway bus near the mile post 262 in Pyawbwe Township at 1am that morning.
The Mandalar Min Express Bus was attempting to overtake the victim's Toyota Surf, but it hit the rear left of the car throwing it in front of the bus, causing it to crash and overturn.


Nyunt Win, 45, Ni Ni Soe, 44, Phyo Phyo Lwin, 28, and their driver Khine Maung Latt died on the spot.


"Pyawbwe Police are investigating the accident. No lawsuit has been filed. The driver is a friend of Nyunt Win. All four of them including my sister and daughter were killed on the spot," said Win Mar, wife of Nyunt Win.


The victims were going to Meikhtila Township as Nyunt Win's to visit Nyunt Win's mother who was ill. They intended to take her back to Yangon for medical treatment.


Earlier on July 3, another car accident occurred on the same road. A Land Cruiser carrying 4 doctors and a driver skidded off the bridge near the mile post 194.
