The Ministry of Defence will investigate reports of military land confiscation to prevent losses to the farmers, according to a commission on farmland confiscation.

The commission's chair, Tin Htut submitted a request to parliament on Monday asking the government to solve land grabbing issues in accord with existing rules and regulations.

In his proposal, Tin Htut said the Ministry of Defence has been working towards solving the issues surrounding confiscated lands for the welfare and security of the military and those that are not part of military bases. The commission has earlier reported that the military had taken about 250,000 acres of land from villagers.
