Myanmar sells over 2 billion Euro worth of gems at expo

Myanmar has sold over 2 billion Euro worth of precious stones at the Golden Jubilee Gems Expo held in Nay Pyi Taw, according to organisers.
Major Aung Kyaw Moe, Deputy Director of Myanmar Gems Enterprise said that over 7000 local and foreign gems merchants attended at the expo.
Among 255 pearl lots, 234 lots were sold through tenders and 21 lots through auction. A total of 8,491 jade lots and 105 gems lots worth of over 5 million of Euro were auctioned at the gems expo.
Myanma Gems Expo has been traditionally held in Yangon, commercial hub of Myanmar while the mid-year gems expo was held in the capital Nay Pyi Taw since 2010.
Over 526 million Euros worth of jade and gems were sold at 49th Gems Expo in 2012 and more than Euro 2 billion worth of jewels were sold in this year expo.
