Dr Lwin Lwin Soe, rector of Yangon University of Foreign Languages, on Tuesday welcomed Thai princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn at the conference hall in Yangon University of Foreign Languages on July 2.

Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn began her daylong trip to Yangon at 7.15am on Tuesday by first visiting the National Museum and then a high school in the city's Dagon township.

She then had lunch with oil tycoon Moe Myint at his home, during which they talked about his business secrets. The Princess first visited Moe Myint in 2010 to look at his library and the books he was donating.

After lunch, she paid a visit to the Yangon University of Foreign Languages (YUFL), where she met the head of the Thai-language department. The Princess also exchanged pleasantries with foreign-language students.

"This is the first time that the Princess has visited this university. She did not visit us to make any agreements on education, it was just a study trip," YUFL rector Dr Lwin Lwin Soe said.

The Princess then visited the Anti-Narcotics Museum, the Thai Embassy and the Shwedagon pagoda before departing. Her Royal Highness was accompanied on the trip by a team of young cadets.
