Law and courts must not favour a group of people, any particular political party, wealthy people, authorities and judges, state-run newspapers quoted Myanmar's chief justice as saying.
Union Chief Justice Tun Tun Oo was speaking at a meeting between the Union Supreme Court and region and state high courts in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.
"It is important for the courts to make sure their judiciary practices are in conformity with the law and rules so that the rule of law reigns in the country," said the chief justice.
The rule of law was the essential requirement in all sectors such as legislative, executive and judicial affairs, management, social affairs, politics and international relations, he added.
The chief justice also called on judges and judicial personnel to try to be qualified and act in accord with the policies and objectives of the Supreme Court.
He said 432 writs were filed at the Supreme Court from March 31, 2011 to June 30, 2013. Out of them, 286 were rejected and 84 remained to be heard.
The meeting took place on Thursday and Friday.
