Due to heavy rainfall in Kalay and Tamu in Chin State, downhill torrents caused landslide, destroyed houses, and drowned animals and people, said the witnesses.
"The roads in Kalay and Kalaywa at 24 miles are closed. The bridge at Thitchauk village has no more pillars. Mud sliding has occurred for four days between Thitchauk village and Kyaukkaw village. People have to travel by boat. Nankalain Bridge on Kalay- Gantgaw road has been collapsed. It isn't assessable there by car now," said a Kalay local.
"Huts, animals and people were washed away by the heavy flow of mountain torrent. About 40 huts and cattle are also washed away by the heavy flow. A child, a man and a woman were dead," said Myo Ko Ko of Natkyikone village.
Sakangyi and Nansaungpu villages also suffered heavy rain and torrent.
