Myanmar will enter bidding war in Japanese rice export auction for the second time, local newspaper The Voice reported, citing the top official of Myanmar Agricultural Business Public Corporation.
Chair of MAPCO Chit Khaing, who is also the CEO of Aden consortium, said the chance to export rice to Japan means Myanmar rice industry has good potential as Japan has a reputation of strict quality control measures.
Myanmar has shipped 5000 tons of rice to Japan in April and will this time participation tender for export of 6000 tons of rice.
The bid was made by the joint venture between MAPCO and Mitsubishi of Japan.
The once major rice exporter of the world has targeted the rice export of 200,000 tons in this fiscal year that ends in April.
The Japanese government agency has yet to invite bids, but it is expected in this month.
