The National League for Democracy (NLD) is conducting an opinion poll to assess whether to amend the 2008 Constitution or draft a new constitution, said advocate Ko Ni, the in-charge of Yangon and Bago Regions.
"Plans are underway to start on October 12 and 13 in Yangon Region. I am working together with Yangon Region's CEC members and legal support group. I will have to be in-charge of Yangon and Bago Regions," said Ko Ni.
District legal support group and the CEC committee will hold a meeting after the district meeting. Explanations about the 2008 Constitution such as its importance and democratic values will be given to the people. The pros and cons of the 2008 Constitution will be clarified to the people.
Seven groups under the directive of the NLD will carry out to conduct the opinion poll. All the groups will make field trips down to the grass root level at the same time. The NLD offices at village and township levels will have to organize local people to come together as a group to support the opinion poll.
