President Thein Sein has arrived in Kachin State's capital Myitkyina today.
The trip is the President's first trip to Kachin State since he took office in 2011.
The President's visit comes a few days before holding discussions about the nationwide ceasefire deal organized by Myanmar Peacemaking Implementation Committee and Kachin Independence Army (KIA), which signed a ceasefire agreement with the government in 1994.
The President is visiting the peace talk and refugee camps and will be meeting members of Peacemaking Committee and town's elders in Myitkyina.
The President had visited conflict-hit Rakhine State on October 1. During his visit to Rakhine State, he said he suspected that violence broke out by the timely arrival of his. The violence started in Thandwe one day ahead of his visit to Rakhine State and the condition became worse upon his arrival.
The KIA is less likely to attend the nationwide ceasefire deal to be signed during November and has a desire to go directly to the political dialogue. The President and the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services will also be attending the ceasefire deal signing.
As soon as we have signed the nationwide ceasefire deal, political dialogue frames and principles will have to be negotiated and discussed in order to strengthen political dialogue, the President was quoted as saying in his radio speech.
