BARGARH :Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sanjay Das Burma on Tuesday toured several market yards in the district to ascertain the ground realties and problems faced by the farmers in paddy procurement.
The Minister, accompanied by Handloom and Textiles Minister Snehangini Chhuria and Commissioner-cum-Secretary
Madhusudan Padhi, interacted with farmers at Godbhaga, Attabira and Patrapali market yards.
Das Burma held discussion with the farmers on the problems they were facing during paddy procurement. He also enquired about the farmers' expectations from the Food and Civil Supplies Department.
Local farmers apprised the Minister of the delay in lifting paddy from the market yards besides untimely payment of dues to them. They also complained about the delay in getting Farmers Identity Card which was hindering the sale of their produce in the market yards.
Later, Das Burma reviewed the paddy procurement process with district officials at Bargarh and directed them to expedite the process.
Talking to mediapersons, the Minister said efforts were being made to issue permanent identity cards to farmers and resolve the long pending problems within a specific timeframe.
