MOGE makes first step to corporatisation
By Aung Shin | Thursday, 05 June 2014State-owned Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) began its corporatisation process this week, inviting partners for a joint venture in several upstream and midstream petroleum activities.
MOGE asked for expressions of interest from foreign firms to form joint ventures in drilling, pipeline construction and maintenance and seismic exploration in onshore blocks.
Myanmar's government has announced plans to transform MOGE to a state-owned corporation to increase its performance and separate its oil and gas regulatory functions from its business activities.
"This is the beginning of the corporatisation process for MOGE," said U Than Min, a MOGE director.
"The process will be finished in 2015, even though there are many steps in the joint venture process."
MOGE is also looking for foreign consultants to assist with the process to establish JVs.
The deadline for EOI tenders is June 30, when initial documents are to be submitted.
