Myanmar's Central Bank to use cloud technology

The Central Bank of Myanmar is setting up cloud-based systems in its Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw offices, with the help of Japanese companies, according to the bank's officer.
The bank's installation of hardware and software to apply cloud technology in processing data is expected to complete by the end of this year. Three Japanese companies, namely Daiwa, Fujitsu and KDDI, are helping with the installation.
"Hardware installation is complete at the Yangon office. And it is still being carried out at the Nay Pyi Taw office. Only after the installation at Nay Pyi Taw, the system will be running as everything must be connected. Installation in Nay Pyi Taw will complete by the end of this year," said an official of the Central Bank, Nay Pyi Taw.
He added, "Mandalay office will also start [to install cloud based systems] in early 2015. Until now, computer networking systems are applied. We have not tested cloud technology."
Daiwa is in charge of hardware installation while Fujitsu is responsible for developing a cloud computing platform and security system. KDDI takes charge of the networking aspect.
The project started in 2013. Its completion is expected next year. In the future, the cloud system will enable to the integration of information in the financial sector.
