The Myanmar authorities have detained for questioning the people who instigated the conflict in Rakhine state, a minister said yesterday.
The persons who have been detained were directly involved in instigating the conflict between the two ethnic groups of the area, Minister of Border Affairs Lt-Gen Thein Htay said at a press conference at Myanmar Industrialists Federation Office.
Further investigations are being carried out, he added.
Saying that security personnel have been deployed in the conflict-affected areas, the minister told journalists that members of Bureau of Special Investigation had been posted there to avert further unrest.
Humanitarian assistance has been arranged for members of the two ethnic groups, he said.
Total 726 hand-made weapons have been seized, the minister added.
