Myanmar will soon privatize state-owned International Package Delivery Service, according to the Central Post Office in Nay Pyi Taw, the capital of the country. Companies from home and abroad have been invited to submit applications for tender and they will be granted as registered service providers, it said.

The application deadline is November 30.

At least three or four private companies will be chosen, and they will provide services like DHL and EMS International currently running in the country, and "although the annual fee is yet to be set, it will not be fewer than 50 million kyats (around US$58,753), which is the current fee rate for local package service companies," said an official from the office.

A panel will be formed to select the companies who have submitted applications. The office also said that the government is planning to privatize state-owned international remittance services.
