Rakhine conflict that occurred in western Myanmar is not likely to be on the agenda at the 21st ASEAN Summit held in Phnom Penh of Cambodia on November 15, said Min Lwin, Myanmar Ambassador to Indonesia and the ASEAN.

"I hope that Rakhine issue will not be discussed at the Summit, although some forecast ASEAN Secretary-General Surin Pitsuwan would take up this issue to the summit," said Myanmar ambassador to the Eleven Media Group.

Earlier, the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN held a preparatory meeting for the 21st ASEAN Summit at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra in Phnom Penh.

"During this summit the high ranking officials of ASEAN could be discussing about the reform process in Myanmar," said Min Lwin.

Dr. Surin in October asked for intervention of international community in Rakhine unrest.

Le Luong Minh, Deputy Foreign Minister of Vietnam will be taking up Dr. Surin's  position starting next year. The announcement will be released officially at the finale of ongoing 21st ASEAN Summit.

Myanmar ambassador has expected that the disputes on South China Sea would be one of the main agendas at the summit.
