Water shortages have hit several villages in a township of Nay Pyi Taw, the capital of Myanmar.
The villages such as Yayoldsin, Yanaung, Yaypyar, and Telgon in Podvathiri Township are facing water shortages currently this summer.
Local private donors are now offering water supply to village residents as much as they can.
"We will offer water donations to the water-scarce villages around here. Some villages faced severe water shortage as they have no water for their daily chores. We bought purified water to donate for drinking. And we also donate water for daily use such as washing and cleaning to the needed. [Local people] face water shortages almost every year. There are donors like us around here. But the government also should take care of the situation by digging more water wells in the areas. More aids are needed," said San Shein, a private water donor from Pyinmana Township, Nay Pyi Taw.
"Our village has faced water shortages since early March. Ponds and wells around here went dried up. It's a relief that there are such donors like them. We face water shortages almost every year in these years. This year saw a rise in temperature and the shortages followed," said villagers from Yanaung.
Yanaung has a population of more than a thousand people with 329 houses, the biggest among others.
High temperatures plus low rainfall have caused severe water shortages in these areas.
