PEACE PROTESTERS PARAY FOR CIVIL WAR VICTIMS

Peace protesters gathered in front of Maha Bandoola in the heart of Yangon to pray for victims in the



prolonged civil war in Kachin State on June 9, according to a Hot News Journal report.





Eighteen split groups participated in the campaign, said Kachin State Peace Network Kyaw Gum said.



"Ceasefire doesn't guarantee (lasting) peace. We are (here) to show participation of the people in peace



building," he said.





The campaign was joined by 50 attendance and protesters held placards carrying pictures of killed



victims in the war.



Thailand has proposed a plan to borrow Myanmar's white elephant to mark 65th anniversary diplomatic



ties between the two countries.
