Police seize Ks 80m worth of narcotics in Yangon

Police officers have seized 80 million kyat worth of narcotics in an early morning drug bust on June 12 in east-central Yangon, according to police sources.
Police officers waited on a tip-off near Mingala Market and seized the illegal drugs while inspecting the suspect, a woman named "Oakkon" aged 23, from northern Shan State.
The drugs included 1,065 amphetamine pills labeled "WY" and a block which is believed to be a package of cocaine about 380 grams in weight, the police say.
The police arrested the woman on the spot for possession illegal drugs, and are investigating to find out who else is connected to the case.
The police have made 379 drug seizures throughout the country in May this year, most were cocaine, according to official data from Myanmar Police Force.
The township has witnessed more than 10 narcotic seizures in Mingala Township in two years, according to the police.
