Myanmar's promulgation of a national race protection law is still under public debate, said presidential spokesperson.
In democratic society, every citizen as well as organizations have the right to speak what the law should be enacted and amended, said the President's spokesman Ye Htut.
However, there are many steps to enact a law, he added.
"Those vested with power and authority can only submit bills to Parliament. Now, our government does not want to comment on such a law. Not only the enactment of a race protection law, amendments to the constitution, farmland law and telecommunications law are all under public debate," the President's spokesman said.
