Imphal, June 29 2013 :
Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh urging him to abandon the proposal of Union Government to retain Moreh town at the cost of Choro Khunou, a village under Kamjong sub-division in Ukhrul district.

The memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister mentioned that local daily Hueiyen Lanpao published a series of special reports on Manipur-Myanmar dispute and one such report mentioned that the Indian government is planning to hand over 1.40 square mile area of Choro Khunou lying in between Border Pillars No.90 and No.91 to Myanmar as a settlement policy to win over Moreh town from the border dispute with Myanmar.

In the memorandum, the TNL contended that one of the main agenda of the Nagas is to live together under one administrative roof.

The Naga people in Manipur convened Naga People's Convention on August 8 and 9, 2001 under the aegis of the United Naga Council (UNC) and resolved that their identity and history have to be defended at all cost and uphold integration for all Naga areas under one administration.

Moreover, the Nagas have been demanding an Alternative Arrangement outside the Government of Manipur, it noted.

The Indian Government should not try to barter the Naga-inhabited village of Choro Khunou for Moreh town and force the villagers to be part of Myanmar, the TNL demanded in the momorandum.

CM Ibobi yesterday assured on the floor of the State Assembly that the State Government has been pressuring the Centre to settle the bondary dispute between Manipur and Myanmar and it would never compromise on giving away even an inch of the land to Myanmar authorities.
