The Ministry of Population and Manpower announced on Friday that the nationwide census will be collected by over 120,000 school teachers within 12 days in 2014.
The nationwide census will be collected from March 30 through April 10 next year, including homeless people living on the streets and train stations. Myanmar citizens who are living abroad will also be included in the census.
Nyi Nyi, director of Manpower Department under the ministry, said 20,000 teachers will serve as auditors among the 120,000 teachers who are under the Ministry of Education.
This will be the country's first census in more than 30 years so there may be difficulties and complications since some citizens have been confused the census with household census, he continued.
A draft report will be released within three or four months after the census has been collected, but the official list will only be released around November, he added.
At the time of the country's last census in 1983, the population was over 35 million. Now, the population is estimated to be over 60 million.
Myanmar conducted a pilot census exercise from March 30 to April 10 this year in selected villages in 20 townships across the country to prepare for the nationwide census.
