President Thein Sein who paid a state visit to UK and France on July 14 returned to Myanmar yesterday morning.


The President arrived at Yangon International Airport transited from Bangkok and Yangon region Chief Minister Myint Swe, Union Ministers and government officials welcomed the president and delegation.


Thein Sein oversees a series of political reform since he took over as president in 2011 and made effort enhance Myanmar standing in the international community while paying visit to European countries.


He arrived to UK on July 15 and during his trip in UK, he met with UK Prime Minister David Cameron, Secretary of State for Defence, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and Secretary of State for International Development in addition to meeting with Former Prime Minister, Tony Blair and Speaker of House of Commons.


Thein Sein also met with businessmen from UK and visited the hotel General Aung San used in 1947 for Myanmar independence. He also attended "Myanmar Complex Transformation: Prospects and Challenges" hosted by London Chatham House and met with Myanmar families in UK.


The President continued his trip and arrived to France on the night of July 17.  During his stay in France, he met with France President Francois Hollande at Presidential Palace. He also met with France Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Jean-Marc Ayrault.


The President visited famous places such as Versailles Palace in Paris and Louvre Museum and during his trip, he met with France media and companies.


The President explained about transform plans in political, economic and social and also spoke about his government's efforts to secure a nation-wide ceasefire with armed groups to reach a peaceful solution to decades of ethnic conflict. He also promised to release political prisoners before the end of this year.


Leaders from UK and France urged Myanmar leader to continue his efforts to bring transform in political and economic affairs, to amend the constitution and to held 2015 election with free and fair.
