A Myanmar photographer said he had requested a European archive to
reclaim his works taken during 8888 popular uprisings in Myanmar,
according to a local weekly Popular News.

He declined to mention the name and the country for the time being.

He said 507 photos capturing images of the country's historic moment
were transferred to the archive following difficulties to keep hold of
them.

He said he took many photos during the period and some of these photos
were kept separately by various friends for various concerns.

"At that time, there were interrogation about records or something
else. Negatives given to a friend were set ablaze. So, the were
afraid," Htein Lin said.

He said he had more than 100 negatives of historic photos taken during
the largest popular uprisings in Myanmar protesting against the
military junta.

Of them, he would put 30 photos on display in the silver jubilee
celebrations of 8888 uprisings scheduled to be held in Yangon on 6-8
August. Most of the photos to be displayed at the event would be in
black and white.

The photos include the images of the meeting between Myanmar democracy
leader Aung San Suu Kyi and the people at Shwedagon Pagoda on 26
August, 1988.
