Police seize bullets from Thai citizen at Yangon Airport

Myanmar police seized bullets from a Thai passenger returning to Thailand at Yangon International Airport on Tuesday afternoon according to police sources.

Officials from the Airport Police Department found a total of nine bullets inside the shopping bag of Ms. Gomes Suraphanapa, a Thai national who was about to board the Yangon-Bangkok flight with MAI airlines. The bullets were detected by the x-ray machine.

"We are investigating this now in order to take action on the culprit and bring the case to court. As part of police procedure, we asked her where she bought the bullets or where did she got them from, but she kept saying that she didn't know how the bullets came into her possession," Police Major Aung Thein Win said on Wednesday.

The police have detained Ms.Gomes Suraphanapa for illegal possession of weapons and are investigating the case.
