Thailand's state-owned energy company PTTEP compensated farmers in
central Myanmar towns for farmlands effected by an exploration survey
on 31 July , reported Myanma Alinn.

The farmlands and crops were damaged in a joint survey conducted by
PTTEP and Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise, Myanmar's state-owned energy
firm.

PTTEP is the one of the largest energy firms in Myanmar and has
established its strong presence in the neighbouring country for many
years.

It is still looking for extension of oil and gas exploration offshore
and onshore Myanmar.

Total and PTTEP are two largest energy companies working in Myanmar
while the western countries imposed economic sanctions against
Myanmar. The sanctions were lifted a year ago, driving more
multinational cooperations back to Myanmar.

The event to grant compensations was attended by local government
officials and regional lawmaker and PTTEP officials.

The company has compensated K 270 million to farmers in Yamethin,
Kyaukpadaung, Natmauk, Taungdwingyi, Hsinbagunwe, Myothit and Aunglan
townships in the central Myanmar.
