The construction project of former United Nations Secretary-General U Thant Library in his native Pantanaw in delta Ayeyawady region has been delayed due to the shortage of fund.
The abbot of Mya Taung monastery, the organizer of the library, said it has been suspended due to the budget deficiency.
The library is being built by Yangon-Pathein Highway Road at the entrance of delta town Pantanaw and The project started in 2012.
The library is expected to showcase manuscripts written by U Thant as a museum and will also keep books and publications within past 20 years.
