Hafifi Eyes Slot To Myanmar Sea Games

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 (Bernama) -- National weightlifter Mohd Hafifi Mansor can't wait to be in action at the 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games in Palembang, Indonesia, next week.

It's because it holds a chance for him to qualify for the Myanmar SEA Games in December.

Mohd Hafifi, who won a bronze medal at the New Delhi Commonwealth Games in 2010, said he was not targeting a medal in Palembang because he had just recovered from a thigh injury.

"After 18 months being out of action...it will be good enough if I can qualify for Myanmar because it will be my chance to win my first SEA Games gold medal," he told reporters here Friday.

In the inaugural Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia in 2005, the national weightlifting squad brought home a silver and a bronze. The second edition in Iran in 2010 was cancelled.
