Aminuddin Hussin has insisted that his boys will be taking each game as they come, after drawing 1-1 with Myanmar in their opening game
Malaysia Under-19 head coach Aminuddin Hussin believes that his men will still be able to qualify for the finals of the AFF U19 Cup, despite opening their campaign with a frustrating 1-1 draw against Myanmar.
The Young Tigers found themselves chasing Myanmar for much of the game after they opened the scoring in the 40th minute mark. But Aminuddin's boys equalised with two minutes left, to give Malaysia a decent opening result in the tournament.
Nonetheless, the head coach believes that his players need to be given some time to adapt to the pitch conditions and stadium atmosphere.
"It was our first game of the tournament, and obviously the team needs some time to adapt to the pitch as well as the atmosphere in stadiums," he told Goal.
"So it isn't a question of stamina, just that my boys needed some time to adapt. We definitely did lack creativity in the final third, but apart from that, we showed tremendous fighting spirit.
"I don't want to specifically talk about becoming champions, but all I know is that I want my boys to at least make it to the final. And we will take each game as it comes."
Malaysia's next match will be against Vietnam, who were triumphant on the opening day with a 3-2 win over Thailand. The clash will take place on Thursday at the Gelora Delta Sidoarjo Stadium.
