Suu Kyi leaves for Eastern Europe

National League for Democracy chairperson Aung San Suu Kyi left Yangon yesterday evening for a visit to Eastern Europe.
During her trip, the party leader will meet with state leaders in Poland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic.
Suu Kyi will first meet with Poland's Lower House Speaker Madam Ewa Kopacz and Upper House Speaker Bogdan Borusewicz. On Thursday, she will meet with President Bronisiaw Komorowski and Prime Minister Donald Tusk and deliver a speech at Warsaw University on the topic "Education and Politics".
In Hungary, she will meet with President Janos Ader and senior government officials and deliver a speech at Corvinus University on the topic "From Revolution to Reconstruction" on Friday.
For the last leg of the tour she will visit the Czech Republic and attend the 17th annual Forum 2000 Conference. She will also meet with President Miloš Zeman and two fellow Nobel laureates: former South African president F. W. de Klerk and the Dalai Lama of Tibet. She returns to Myanmar on the morning of September 18.
This trip is Suu Kyi's second European tour since her release from house arrest following the 2010 election. She will be accompanied by Lower House MP Myo Aung, her personal assistant Tin Mar Aung, and Soe Win.
During her trip last year, she visited Norway, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, France, and Ireland.
Suu Kyi will visit Singapore on September 20 and attend Connecting Asia the World.
