Leader of Myanmar's largest opposition National League for Democracy
Aung San Suu Kyi will visit three European countries and meet
political leaders there, her spokesperson Democracy Phyo Zeyar Thaw
said.
The local newspaper Messenger reported that the Nobel laureate
parliamentarian will visit Poland, Hungary and Czech and hold meetings
with presidents there in this September.
"NLD Chairperson Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will leave Yangon Airport for
three European countries at 7.30 pm on 10 September and meet
presidents and attend seminars there," Phyo Zeyar Thaw, the
rapper-turned MP of the National League for Democracy, said.
She would be accompanied by Dr Tin Mar Aung, Chief of her Staff and
Personal Assistant to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and Dr Myo Aung, CEC
member and lower house member, and Soe Win, Personal Aide to Daw Aung
San Suu Kyi.
She is scheduled to arrive in Poland on September 11.
The democracy icon the Polish parliament, meet the Polish president
and gave lecture at University of Warsaw on 12 September.
The NLD chairperson has planned to call on the Hungarian president and
give lecture "From Revolution to Reconstruction" at Corvinus
University of Budapest on September 13.
She will give lecture entitled "Remembering Vaclav Havel – Mutual
inspirations Burma and Czech Republic" at the opening ceremony of
Forum 2000 "Societies in Transition" on September 17.
She will arrive back in Yangon on September 18.
