Colonial buildings in Yangon will be marked with an inscription at the city hall in Yangon, local newspaper 7Day Daily reported.
Thant Myint-U, an acclaimed historian and a leader of Yangon Heritage Trust, said more than 30 colonial buildings would be marked with inscriptions as from this month.
"Inscription will be carried in two upcoming weeks of this month. Remaining buildings will be included in the list this year," the grandson of former UNSG U Thant said.
Rolls Store, High Court and Central Bank building will continue to be marked with special inscriptions.
According to figures of Yangon Heritage Trust, there are 189 ancient buildings in Yangon. All the buildings will be distinguished with inscriptions within two years.
A Norwegian company has donated bronze plates for the inscriptions.
The company will supply some 200 bronze plates worth USD 75,000, it said in the World Economic Forum.
