Deputy governor of Myanmar's central bank Than Nyein resigned from his
post three months after the appointment, according to the government
press release.

The president office Wednesday confirmed his voluntary resignation.

He was a member of the first-ever independent board of directors of
the central bank of Myanmar.

He was the governor of the central bank of Myanmar while it was
operated under the Ministry of Finance and Revenue.

It was then separated after the enactment of the new Central Bank of
Myanmar Law that made the central bank independent from the ministry's
direct command.

The central bank has been playing in a key role in shaping the
monetary policy of the emerging Southeast Asian economy.

The reason behind his resignation is unknown.
