Myanmar's Information Ministry held a press conference on broadcasting
media and its connections with private media outlets in the wake of
controversy over the new broadcasting media law.

The ministry denied accusations of corruption in dealings between the
ministry and the media outlets which have currently been granted
licenses.

The ministry said, SKY Net, one of Myanmar biggest and yet most
expensive media outlets, has been allowed three years of 100 percent
tax exemption. The Grace Period expired in the previous July.

He said the government collected K 10869 million revenue from the
Forever Group of Companies, the largest media consortium in Myanmar,
since 2005 to date.

The ministry said the dealings are audited once six months by the
audit team of the Union Auditor-General Office.

The broadcasting media bill drafted by the ministry drew criticisms
from the media men as it does not allow cross-ownership.
