Kanbawza Bank, a local private bank in Myanmar, introduced its SEA
Games debit cards about one month ahead of the major sports event to
be held in Myanmar, according to the Voice newspaper report.
The bank has entered 10,000 cards into the market with the SEA Games logo.
The launch and press conference on the KBZ SEA Games Debit Card was
held in KBZ headquarters in Yangon Wednesday, according to the report.
"K 1 million could at most be withdrawn from KBZ SEA Games Debit Card
at MPU (Myanmar Payment Union) machines and K 5 million at POS (points
of sale)," Zaw Lin Htut, deputy managing director of the bank said.
The limited edition of the debit cards is offered together with the
tickets for opening and closing ceremonies of the SEA Games scheduled
to be held on December 11 and 22.
Kanbawza is a member of Myanmar Payment Union, a group of local banks
for the common electric payment system in the cash-dominated economy.
