Local and overseas companies to work together to implement Wi-Fi services

Myanmar Post and Telecommunications (MPT) have invited local and overseas companies to work together to implement broadband wireless (Wi-Fi) services in the country.

The companies must submit details of their technical and business model proposal to the chief engineer of MPT's Information and Technology department in Nay Pyi Taw by 4 p.m. on November 30.

The rules and regulations form for the tender process can be obtained during office hours from October 21 until October 31. Bidders may be required to submit their company registration, registration record, and other company details.

Business operators who would like to provide internet services can expect to receive their Internet Service Provider (ISP) license within six months of the Telecommunications law coming into effect this month. Communications and related licenses will be provided by the government after the Telecommunications by-law comes into effect, communication services providers commented.
