YANGON, Oct 31 (Bernama) -- Commander-in-Chief of Myanmar's Defense Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing has stressed the need for stability and security on the border with India.
Hlaing said peace and stability plays a crucial role in achieving success of Myanmar's reform, Xinhua news agency reports state media as saying Thursday.
"Thanks to decade-long amity and mutual trust between the two countries, border regions enjoy more peace and stability than any other regions," he said during a meeting with Indian Army Chief General Bikram Singh in Nay Pyi Taw.
General Bikram reaffirmed cooperation with Myanmar in border stability and development, disaster risk management and healthcare in the region.
On Wednesday, General Bikram called on Myanmar President U Thein Sein during which both discussed bilateral ties, implementation of latest agreements signed by leaders of both countries and India's assistance to Myanmar's human resources development.
Singh arrived in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday for a two-day visit.
Indian Defense Minister, AK Antony visited Myanmar in January this year.
