Myanmar will employ international-standard police forces to ensure
security and safety in SEA Games venues, said an official of Myanmar
Police Force.

Myanmar will host XXVII SEA Games for the first time in history on
December 11-22.

The Police Force has been equipped with advanced search machines and
trained for conflicts handling, Police Lt-Col Min Aung said.

The police force will take security at venues and hostels of the athletes.

"We have upgraded our security as it is an international sports
event," he said.

He refused to reveal how much security forces would be employed in the
SEA Games period.

Myanmar will host the ASEAN's biggest sports event in three major
cities—Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw and Mandalay—and Ngwehsaung beach.

Myanmar saw a series of bomb blasts and threats during last month,
raising concerns for security in the SEA Games period.
