Myanmar earned a place for the first time in Doing Business report
jointly compiled by World Bank and International Financial
Corporation.
The report which featured 189 countries was released on November 29 by
the World Bank.
Myanmar's reserved place in the report despite low grading was a
result of the opening up of the country's economy, said the World
Bank's Myanmar resident representative, in quote by the Pyi Myanmar
daily.
IFC said it was a leapfrog progress that Myanmar was included for the
first time in the index.
The Doing Business report would be instrumental in measuring the
reforms of the Southeast Asian country.
Among the top countries to do business include Singapore, Hong Kong,
China, New Zealand, Malaysia, Korea, Georgia, Norway and United
Kingdom.
The report studied starting a business, border trade, taxation and
credit issues.
