Two Hong Kong firms have been allowed to start the manufacturing units of plastic utensils in Myanmar industrial zones by Myanmar Investment Commission, according to the Voice report.

Hua Tai Enterprise Co Ltd was allowed to invest 100 percent in the plastic wares manufacturing industry in Mingaladon Industrial Zone near Yangon.

The company will produce plastic dolls, keychains, awards and other accessories in Myanmar.

New Century Industries (Myanmar) Co Ltd is another plastic manufacturing company which received the green light from the investment governing body.

A number of garment industries have made Myanmar entry this year under CMP contracts.

"We can't compete with them either in investment or technology or market," a local plastic industrialist in Yangon Mya Win said.
