NUP, PCP Confirm Government's Seriousness on National Dialogue
Khartoum – National Umma Party Deputy Chairman, Fadlallah Burma Nasir affirmed that the concessions provided by the NCP to make the national dialogue a success prove its seriousness in steering a dialogue with all the political forces including the armed movements.
He said in statements to Sudan Vision that the recent procedures adapted by the government in regard to general and press freedoms represent a step in the right track to make the national dialogue a success.
Nasir called the opposition forces which reject the national dialogue to avoid the private stances and presenting the unattainable issue which do not serve the dialogue and hinder its success.
He called on the government as well as the opposition to start reciprocal steps aiming at creating a conducive environment for the national dialogue; to come out with positive results that serve the citizens and the nation as well.
He emphasized the importance of forming the national dialogue mechanism as soon as possible.
For his part, Popular Congress Party (PCP), Political Secretary, Kamal Omer slammed the National Alliance Forces (NAF) considering the freezing of PCP membership is not a wise step as it is not their right to take such a step as a coordinating entity with no regulations in this regard.
Omer added that the NAF actions are contradicting as they call for freedoms and ban it from its membership.
He affirmed that the government is honest in its presentation and that the PCP accepted it out of conviction.
Omer reiterated the call for the armed groups to participate in the dialogue, affirming that it is a historical opportunity before all political forces to get out of the crises which Sudan is suffering from since independence.
He said that the PCP was in continuous individual contacts with opposition figures to accept the national dialogue initiative, but, according to him, those figures have their own interests which have nothing to do with the nation's interests.
In the same context, Communist party Political Secretary admits that there are no regulations within the NAF allowing for issuing a decision to freeze the activity of any party, adding that the decision of freezing the PCP membership is unanimously approved by the parties participating in the alliance considering that the PCP accepted the participation in the national dialogue and is no more representing their vision.
