Imphal, April 02 2014:
Holding the Congress party responsible for the imminent loss of Manipur's territorial boundary to Myanmar, BJP's Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency nominee Dr RK Ranjan said survival of the Congress Government would be a threat to Manipur's existence.

Addressing the gathering at his flag hoisting ceremony held today at Kongba Bazar, Dr Ranjan branding the Congress party as naive on Manipur's territorial boundary alleged that in the 10-year of Congress rule the State's territory faced repeated threats.

Pointing out that Manipur lost the fertile Kabow Valley to Burma (Myanmar) when Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the Prime Minister, he said parting of Kabow Valley testifies that the Congress party has no sympathy with the sentiment and aspirations of Manipuris.

Contending that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh with the consent of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh agreed with Myanmar authorities to construct a fence along the Indo-Myanmar boundary inspite of being aware that Manipur will lose large tract of its territory, Dr Ranjan said time has come for the people of Manipur on whether to vote for the Congress candidate to further tolerate compromise on the State's territorial integrity or choose the BJP nominee in order to save Manipur.

Highlighting that BJP is a political party that accords top priority to regional issues and development, Dr RK Ranjan said if elected to the Parliament he would not only ensure that Manipur's territory remains intact but will also remove the ongoing boundary fencing.

Charging Congress MPs of Manipur in the Parliament of inaction when the people suffered due to prolonged imposition of economic blockade on the National Highways connecting the State to other parts of the country, he said as the same MPs remain in the fray for the upcoming Parliamentary elections the people deserve an explanation as to what initiative the MPs had taken to mitigate suffering of the people and why they did not protest when Manipur's territorial boundary was compromised.

Stating that development of India and Manipur could be ensured only when the Congress is voted out and replaced by the BJP, he said the people need to decide for whom to cast their votes to herald a new era.

Speaking at the occasion, State unit BJP president Th Chaoba said due to increasing popularity of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as well as the Congress party realising that they would not return to power at the Centre neither the ruling Congress party is able to hold public meetings in the open nor its MPs willing to meet and address the people.

Alleging that the Chief Minister O Ibobi has been neglecting Imphal East district, he said nominating an individual hailing from Thoubal district that has a Chief Minister and two Cabinet Ministers is a testimony of the CM's agenda.

Chaoba also explained that nomination of Dr Ranjan clearly indicates BJP's aim for development of Imphal East district.

Apart from other BJP leaders, MPP president N Sovakiran also attended the event.
